Youth Clubs
Due to a hugely successful year, CYP are making changes to the way youth clubs are run in 2009/2010.
Listed below are details of the new clubs, who can get involved, and what we hope to achieve over the course of the year. Have a look, and you'll find out there is something for EVERYONE!!!
Primary Hang Out
Due to our increased work with young people in primary school, we thought it only fair they had their own club! This will run every Tuesday evening, between 5pm and 7pm within the youth space @ McLaren Leisure Centre. The club is for young people in primary 6 and primary 7, and over the course of the year we will provide a range of fun and stimulating activities that young people can enjoy. We also hope to work with young people to help with the step from primary to high school.
Wednesday Night Youthy
This club will continue to run every Wednesday Night between 7pm and 9pm for young people in S1 to S3. The club will run in McLaren Leisure Centre, using the space there to run a variety of activities such as dance, sports, arts, cooking etc. We also hope to run award scheme's with the young people over the course of the year. This will allow young people to build on skills such as confidence, team work, organisation and communication in a fun and enjoyable way. We will also run workshops on issues that directly affect young people, such as drugs, alcohol, relationships and health.
Thursday Drop In
This club is for young people in S4 and above, and runs on a drop in basis. The club will run from 7pm till 9pm every Thursday night in Mclaren Leisure Centre. We will run a variety of activities - sports, arts, cooking, computers etc. We will provide a career support service, giving young people advice and support with filling in job/college/university applications, job search, interview technique, CV building etc.
We aim to help young people build their personal skills, such as communication, team building, confidence, organisation and leadership - skills which are looked upon favourably by employers.
How to Get Involved
Youth clubs will start back in this format week beginning 14th September 2009. Before then, though, all young people must be signed up, with all registration and medical forms completed. On the 8th/9th/10th of September, there will be sign up nights for all the clubs. Young people and parents/guardians should attend one of these nights, this will allow all forms to be completed and fee's paid. Young people cannot take part in CYP activities unless all forms are completed. This will also give parents/guardians and CYP staff the oppertunity to talk over any aspects of the youth clubs.
If you have any further questions regarding the new youth club format, or have any queries, please feel free to contact Craig @ CYP office.
